Born on 8th June 1959, Dr.Siva Chidambaram inherited the musical trait from his father Dr.Sirkazhi S.Govindarajan and Guru B.Krishnamurthy. The audience world-over appreciates his vibrant voice with a flexible range and style, which expresses the soul of the song of the song with clarity of diction. He is a popular performing classical artist with a mission, who has sung all over the country, as well as the world, at all prestigious occasions & institutions. His talent, as a public performer, playback artist and as an A-grade artist of All India Radio and International channels caters to a wide variety of music. His acting skill has also been appreciated through films, various TV serials and as Sage Thiruvalluvar in “Kalaignarin Kuraloviyam’ Dance Drama.
His recordings are numerous, with a wide range of classical, light classical, devotional and traditional literature as musical documentations. He has performed in U.K., U.S.A., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, and Nepal etc. His International multi-lingual songs in foreign languages are favorite with his international audiences. His concerts aim towards the upliftment of culture, and fund-raising efforts for temples, schools, rehabilitation, educational & scholarship funds and cultural organizations.
Dr.Siva Chidambaram has served prestigious positions as a member of selection boards and juries. As Chairman, Board of Trustees of Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore, Madras, the first run of the ‘Golden Chariot’ was the crowing moment of Dr.Siva Chidambaram’s tenure. Dr. Siva Chidambaram has received numerous awards, including Shri Rajiv Gandhi Award, KalaiMamani, Raja Sir Annamalai Chettiar award, Muthamizh Per Arignar, The Music Academy Award of Excellence, Tamil Isai Venthar, Kala Rathna, Vibulanatha Adigal Awards etc. A special mention of honour was made in the Australian Parliament in appreciation the first Indian musician to have receivedthe honour.
Dr. Siva Chidambaram worked as Director incharge of Institute of Internal Medicine at Madras Medical College and Govt. General Hospital, Chennai-3. He is the Dean / Spl. Officier of Govt. Medical College, Perambalur.
